It is with great pleasure that we get to congratulate our own Ms. Elizabeth Prewett who has been named the 2025 Arkansas History Teacher of the Year!

Ms. Prewett is being recognized for her outstanding work and dedication as a history teacher. There are over 3,500 social studies teachers in Arkansas, not to mention tens of thousands of elementary teachers as well. But Ms. Prewett has been selected to represent them all!

She will receive a $1,000 award, a certificate of recognition, an archive of books and historical resources, and recognition at a state ceremony.

She is now also a finalist for National History Teacher of the Year where the winner receives $10,000 and a ceremony in their honor held in New York City.

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and Preserve America created this national award to honor outstanding teachers of American History in 2004. The National History Teacher of the Year award highlights the crucial importance of history education by honoring exceptional American history teachers from elementary school through high school.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Prewett for this phenomenal honor!

July is French-American Heritage Month! 🇫🇷🇺🇸 Did you know? Little Rock was named by French explorers after a distinctive rock outcrop in the Arkansas river that they called "La Petite Roche." #pcssdproud #serveall
