PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- Three elementary schools in the Pulaski County Special School District will receive financial awards from the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as part of the Arkansas School Recognition Program.
Baker Elementary, Chenal Elementary, and Pine Forest Elementary are among the top 10 percent of public schools in the state eligible for these funds. The criteria is based on high student performance on the state-required assessment in select grades, student academic growth, and high school graduation rates where applicable.
Award achievements were as follows:
- Baker Elementary will receive $35,800 - Top 5% Performer
- Chenal Elementary will receive $43,300 - Top 5% Performer
- Chenal Elementary will receive $43,300 - Top Growth/Graduation
- Pine Forest will receive $15,900 - Top 6-10% Growth/Graduation
Arkansas School Recognition Program (Ark. Code Ann. § 6-15-2107) awards are given based on student assessment results from the 2022-2023 school year and graduation rates from then 2021-2022 school year. Award totals were based on student enrollment. The top 5% in performance and growth each receive $100 per student. The top 6-10% in performance and growth each receive $50 per student.
